Alton Cary Tomerlin

January 8, 1937 — October 30, 2017

Alton Cary Tomerlin Jr. was born January 8, 1937 in San Angelo, TX and went to be with his Heavenly Father October 30, 2017. Cary graduated from the New Mexico Military Institute, and served in the US Army. Cary had a strong work ethic and showcased that throughout his various jobs. This included being a Co-Owner of C&M Fuels (Butane Company), working for TH McCann delivering propane to drilling rigs, owning a Texaco Service Station, and finally opening up his own propane company, with his wife in 1971, which earned him the title “King of Propane”. Concho Propane, his legacy, is still going strong at almost 50 years. Cary seemed like a hard man, but he had a huge heart, and was always providing for others. Some of the joys of his life were taking his two sons and wife motocross racing throughout Texas. He loved fast cars and would put anything with an engine on propane. Cary was preceded in death by his parents Togo and Lessie Mae. He is survived by his loving wife Dorothy of 57 years; his children, Toot Tomerlin, and wife Debbie of San Angelo, Tommy Tomerlin and wife Sheila, of Streetman, his four grandchildren, Erika and Kevin Weidner, Brittany and Steven Stober, Tyler Tomerlin of San Angelo, and Trent Tomerlin of Dallas, seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 1, 2017 from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Harper Funeral Home. The Graveside service will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, Nov. 2nd at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. The Tomerlin family would like to give a special thanks to Brandy Spruce for her dedication and help the last 3 years, and Wayne Tankersley for his compassionate care the last few weeks. Also, special thanks to Visiting Angels and Kindred Hospice.
