Antonia Carbajal Lorta, 95, passed away peacefully Sunday, May 12, 2019 surrounded by her family. Antonia was born on June 13, 1923 in Jimenez, Mexico to Refugio Carbajal and Ramona Ibarra. Antonia had a first marriage where she had one child, Maria Garcia. She later remarried to Alejo Lorta for 25 years until his death. Although Antonia was a full-time housewife, she worked part-time jobs at Troy Laundry, Barry’s Warehouse, Talk O’ Texas, and as a seamstress. Antonia loved gardening, cooking, sewing, and, most of all, spending time with her family. Antonia was a very devoted Catholic her entire life; she was a member at St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Antonia was preceded in death by her husband Alejo Lorta, and her siblings: Marcelo, Hilario, Carmen, Juanita, Refugio, Leonardo, Margarito, and Irene. Mrs. Lorta is survived by her brother Beto Carbajal; daughter Maria Garcia; and grandchildren Ernest Garza Jr., Kimberly Vu, and Brian Vu. The family would like to thank her nieces Minerva Munoz and Esperanza Leyva and the friends that took her the Eucharist from St. Mary’s Catholic Church: Jessie Aguirre, Mary Padilla, and Ida Rodarte. A Rosary service will be held at Harper Funeral Home Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at 6:00 PM. A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church Thursday, May 16, 2019 at 10:00 AM with burial to follow at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
