Bertha Jewell Pearcy

Bertha Jewell Pearcy, 96, of San Angelo went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 3, 2020. Jewell was born July 23, 1924 in Commerce, Texas to John William and Delmer Gratis Hull Potter. She met and later married John Purvis Pearcy on August 19, 1949 in Sulphur Springs, TX and they shared 53 beautiful years together before he preceded her in death in December of 2002. Jewell started out working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company as an operator but later moved into the Traffic Division of GTE. Jewell retired from GTE in 1986 after 38 years of service. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. Jewell loved spending time with her grandchildren. She had many passions in life, among them were gardening, working around her farm, cooking for her family, playing her steel guitar, and selling Mary Kay Cosmetics. Jewell was also a gifted seamstress and loved to crotchet. She was a strong woman of faith and her life and her love will live on in our hearts forever! She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband John, her son, John S. Pearcy, one brother, John Douglas Potter and one sister, Ladene Myrtis Cole. Jewell is survived by her loving family, daughter, Linda Ratliff, of San Angelo and daughter in law, Christie Pearcy, also of San Angelo. She is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren, and sister-in-law Glenna Sparkman of Richardson. She is also survived by five nephews.
