Clovis Elizabeth Shipley

Clovis Elizabeth Shipley, 79, of San Angelo rose to be with her Savior on Saturday, December 15, 2018 at her home following a courageous battle. She was born in Loraine, Texas on December 30, 1938 to Thomas and Maggie Pettitt. She received her high school diploma from Hermleigh High School in 1957. She married Bobby Shipley on October 6, 1955 in Snyder, Texas. Clovis worked in the school tax office both in Kermit and Odessa, Texas. She additionally worked in banking while living in Roswell, New Mexico. She was a member of various churches throughout her lifetime with her current membership at Glen Meadows Baptist Church in San Angelo. In her early life, she served as a member of the Eastern Star. Her faith and love for Christ was very important to her, and she exemplified this in every aspect of her life. She enjoyed baking, sewing, decorating, shopping, golfing, dancing, listening to music, playing Phase 10 and dominos, "farming" on Hayday, taking care of Missy her Yorkie, but, above all else, she enjoyed doing things with and for her family. The family remembers her most for the love and passion she had for them. Her greatest joy came from being first a wife and mother, but most especially a Meemaw to her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bobby Shipley, and a grandson, Brandon Lee Shipley. Clovis is survived her son Terry Shipley & wife Debra of Lubbock; her daughter Cheere Behrendt & husband Brad of Odessa; her grandson Justin Shipley & wife Jill of Lubbock; her granddaughter Kali Behrendt of Odessa; 2 great grandchildren Brandon & Brylee Shipley of Lubbock; sisters, Margetta Black of San Angelo, Zetta Claxton & husband James of Odessa, brother Gail Pettitt & wife Ann of Odessa; and numerous other extended family members and friends. Visitation & viewing for family and friends will be held in San Angelo at Harper Funeral Home, 2606 Southland Blvd., from 5:30 - 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday December 18th. The funeral will be held in Odessa at Immanuel Baptist Church, 4020 E. University Blvd., at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday December 19th with Pastor Mack Roller officiating. Burial & graveside service will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be Lance Cardona, Gregg Huffman, Steve Fowler, Brent Kelley, Dean Garza, Nathan Villaloboz, Rodney Black, Chad Claxton and Tommy Pettitt. The family wishes to express a heartfelt thanks to Shannon Sawyer who was Clovis' angel on earth and a blessing to her entire family. In addition, a special thanks to Dr. Raj Cheruku and his staff at Shannon Oncology Center, as well as Interim Home Care and Hospice, especially Laura Carroll and Maribel Morales.
