Evelyn Grace Flynn Lemons

November 25, 1966 — November 2, 2022

Evelyn Grace Flynn Lemons went to her heavenly home November 2, 2022 after a 2 year battle with cancer. Evelyn was born to Carrol and Beth Martin Flynn, November 25, 1966, in San Angelo, Texas. She is survived by her husband Buddy Neal Lemons, son Mason Ryan Lemons, daughter Emily Jordan Lemons, sister Alice Flynn, and many relatives from the Lemons, Martin, and Flynn families and 6 kitties and 2 dogs plus her Fort Concho Family.

Evelyn was a remarkable woman who was loved by many, and she returned their love three-fold. She was a wife and soul mate to her husband and partner Buddy for 25 years. A close and loved friend of the San Angelo Fire Dept. where both Buddy and Evelyn have been for 20 yrs. She was a loving mother who ensured her children were well rounded in all forms of education and cared for with love and understanding. Evelyn had a deep love of the outdoors and exposed her two children to many outdoor adventures including mountain trails and diving adventures. Her biggest passion was the ocean and would have loved to have one last adventure with her family in the waves.

Evelyn’s love of history turned into a career at Fort Concho Museum. She began working at Ft. Concho October 3, 1990. While working there, she added a Master’s Degree in history which led to an advancement to Historian/Archivist. That degree, and her knowledge of history allowed her to teach part-time as an Adjunct History Professor at Angelo State University, her alma mater. She began that position in 2013. She was more than passionate about her work and throughout her entire battle against cancer, traveled to and from work giving her all for her students and colleagues.

A memorial service will be held at Fort Concho Stables on Henry O’Flipper St. at 10:30 a.m., November 16, 2022. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to her passion Fort Concho Historical Foundation. Mailing address: Fort Concho Historical Foundation; 630 S. Oaks; San Angelo, Texas 76903.
