Albert Orval "Red" Turner, Jr.

Albert Orval (Red) Turner, Jr. passed from this life and joined his beloved wife, Nadine, on February 22, 2022, at 6:55 A.M. in San Angelo, Texas. Affectionately known as “Red” because of his full, bright red hair in youth, Red was born to Albert Orval and Daisy Mae Turner in Bristow, Oklahoma in 1932. After his parents moved to Texas, Red started first grade in Kermit and graduated from Kermit High School in 1950. Red joined the Navy in June of 1950 and served three years during the Korean Conflict. When Red returned to his hometown, he began his life-time career of work in the oil field employed by Perry R. Bass Co. and Sid Richardson Gasoline Co. After his return to the states, Red also met the love of his life, Nadine Casbeer. The two met on a double, blind date in April 1954, instantly had that “spark”, and married on September 11, 1954. Red and Nadine lived in Kermit, Texas until Red’s retirement in 1994 when they relocated to San Angelo, Texas. Through the years, Red had many interests and enjoyed fishing and bird hunting with his family, arrowhead hunting in the sand hills of Kermit, sight-seeing through national parks, square dancing, playing golf, and following and supporting his children and grandchildren at sports events and boy and girl scouts. In his later years in San Angelo, he and Nadine enjoyed walking along the Concho River and trips to San Angelo’s Senior Center. Red was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Nadine, his parents, and his in-laws Daniel and Zelda Casbeer and one grandson, Michael Reynolds. He is survived by his three children: Janice Reynolds (Mike) of Joshua, Texas; John Turner (Tammie) of Bronte, Texas; and Robert (Bob) Turner (Evelyn Tyssen) of Clifton, Texas. Red was blessed with many children and grandchildren. Red’s grandchildren included: Stephen Reynolds (Jenny) of Denton, Texas; Anthony Reynolds of Joshua, Texas; John Turner, Jr. of Big Spring, Texas; Kristi Rainey (D.J.) of Mertzon, Texas; Alyx Douglass (John) of Lubbock, Texas; and Staff Sgt. Kirby Turner (Kylee) of Swansboro, North Carolina. Red is also survived by ten great grandchildren: Jocelyn, Cooper, Melanie, Baylee, Taylor, Lacey, Dava, Ella, Kiera, and Jackson, three sisters: Alice Deaton of Lufkin, Texas, Judy Shipman of Dumas, Texas, and Goldie Pittman (Tom) of Valliant, Oklahoma, and many nieces and nephews. After 89 years of a full life, Red still had great stories to tell and a twinkle in his eye when he told them. He will be greatly missed. Funeral services will be at Harper Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 1st at 1:00 P.M. with graveside services to follow at Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens, both in San Angelo.
