Albert Wilford Schorre Jr.

January 21, 1947 — August 6, 2025

San Angelo

Al W. Schorre Jr. of Wellington CO passed away peacefully on Aug 6 2025, surrounded by his family in San Angelo, TX. He was born in January of 1947 in Austin, TX to parents Albert and Pat (Flournoy) Schorre.

Al attended Austin High School and enjoyed spending time on the lake as a young man. Shortly after his time in the Texas National Guard he attended the University of Texas at Austin and was a member of the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity, where he was vice president of the bachelor’s club. Later he finished school at the University of Texas Law School where he was licensed to practice law since 1973. He was also licensed to practice with the United States Supreme Court. At this time, he met the love his life Elizabeth Schorre and they started a family in the Austin area before moving to Midland, TX.

During his time in Midland, Al was a partner at Stubbeman Mcrae law firm handling oil and gas litigation. Then his true calling to serve the people of West Texas came when he became District Attorney from 1985-2007. During his time as District Attorney he held many memberships and accreditations such as being appointed by governor George W. Bush as chairman to the governors drug policy advisory board, and Texas criminal justice task force along with being a certified peace officer. Al’s fondest memories were spending time on his ranch in Cross Cut with his family. Upon his retirement he moved to northern Colorado to be with his family and grandkids and enjoy his love for horses, the western way of life and rodeo.

With all of his professional achievements and success in his career he will always be remembered by us as a cherished husband, a loving father and hero of a grandad as well as a dang good story teller. Proceeded in death by his parents and his favorite horse Superman. Al is survived by his wife Elizabeth Schorre, and son Wil of Wellington, CO, and son Hunter and wife Shonna, and grandchildren Cutter and Savannah of San Angelo, TX. Along with a crew of truly blessed friends he called family and a surly horse named Bob.

No services are scheduled at this time.
