Beth Ann Ashmore

December 30, 1946 — August 10, 2026

San Angelo

Beth was born December 30th, 1946. On August 10th, 2026, Beth’s Lord and Savior came to take her home. Beth was 79 years old when she passed.

Beth Ann Fleming was born in McCamey, TX, to Lorraine Wheeler Fleming and Authur Fleming. Beth spent her young life in McCamey and Rankin. Beth, her parents and her younger sister, Mary Kay Hohertz, moved to San Angelo, where she attended Lakeview High School. Beth was “nice” while Mary Kay was always her protector.

In 1965, she married Vance Ashmore and they had 1 daughter, Jaton Giese.

Beth stayed at home to raise Jaton until she started junior high. She went to work for Hemphill Wells in the gift wrapping department. At Christmas, we all had some beautifully wrapped gifts. She even taught some gift wrapping classes. She then went on to work at GTE for 23 years.

Beth gained a son, Douglas Giese, when Jaton married in 1992. Two grandsons, Jace and Miles, came along a few years later. She doted on those grandchildren as much as she did her on her daughter. Even though they were boys, she still had tea parties with them and took them on vacation.

She was active and supportive in all of her family’s activities including drag racing and rod runs with Vance; sports, social activities and crafts with Jaton; sports and school events with Jace and Miles; and trips to Hobby Lobby and class reunions for her mom. When the grandkids got older, she watched and supported them when they got into cars and trucks like their grandfather. Beth also enjoyed her own hobbies that included playing volleyball, board games and cards, painting, beading, hand stitching and probably her favorite – quilting. She made many awesome quilts for family and friends.

She truly enjoyed studying God’s word and was known for her rock-solid faith by a many of family and friends. Through her example she showed that faithful prayer was a pentacle daily practice in her life. That practice will always be cherished by her family for all the blessings brought to them and will be sorely missed in the future. She was a great listener and gave Biblically based advise but only when asked.

Rather it was work or play, Beth made many new friends along the way and even reconnecting with a few from her high school years. She was welcoming to new friendships and ready to include them in her own hobbies by inviting them to bead or sew, or even having people over and teaching them a new hobby. She appreciated all of many friends.

While Beth was on this earth, she made many friends but among the strongest was her daughter Jaton, and her grandson Jace. While she was first and foremost a mother to Jaton in the early years of her daughter’s life, they both grew older and became each other’s best friends and sometimes partners in crime. They enjoyed inviting friends over for drinks and board games and laughing until they couldn’t breathe. They went to all-days-sews, a quilting cruise, quilting retreats and a bead/glass show in Vegas. Also on Beth’s ticket was dancing, a lip-syncing contest and snow skiing. If she could, she would participate in any activities that her family and friends were interested in. Her grandsons came along and kept her young. Jace lived with her and was a daily companion to her. He enjoyed giving her a little harassment once in a while to keep her on her feet. She also enjoyed her deep conversations with Miles.

She was a daughter, a sister, a mom, a mother-in-law (the best one according to Doug), a grandmother and a true friend and we will truly miss her. We all knew she preferred humor over sadness and would want us to remember the laughter.

God came to take her home but we know there were many others there to welcome her, including her mom, jumping up and down, waiting to show her the bestest hobby lobby. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her grandparents – Etta and Wallace Fleming, Grace Ramsey and great Aunt Mary Clark and many others. She is survived by her daughter, Jaton, and husband Doug Giese, her grandsons, Jace and Miles Giese, her sister, Mary Kay Hohertz and husband Ron Hohertz, her niece, Samantha Rosas and husband Ronnie Roses and nephew John Allbright and her pets, Chief and Daisy.

A celebration of life will be held at Angelo Bible Church, 3506 Sherwood Way, San Angelo, TX, on Friday, August 21st at 3 o’clock. Please join us in wearing her favorite color, any shade of blue.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Critter Shack Rescue or any other local animal rescue. Jaton does rescue today because her mom taught her that we were charged by God, with the caring for the animals of the earth.
