Bettie Maxine Calley Gassiot, age 92, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away on March 16, 2026. She was born on March 10, 1934, in Westbrook, Texas, to Charles Franklin Calley and Clara Ethel Clark.
Bettie lived a full and meaningful life centered around her faith, family, and community. She graduated from Forsan High School with honors and continued her education at San Angelo College and a graduate school of banking at the University of Colorado. She dedicated many years of her career to banking, working at Bank of the West and later retiring from Bank of America in San Angelo, Texas.
In 1951, Bettie married the love of her life, William “Bill” Gassiot. Together they built a strong and loving family. Bettie was a devoted member of Glen Meadows Baptist Church, where she faithfully served as treasurer.
She is survived by her children, Vicki Gassiot Ford and husband Bill, Billy Don Gassiot and wife Jean Ann; grandchildren, Eve Elizabeth Nelson and husband Matt, Will Logan Ford and Savannah , Zan Aaron Gassiot and Wife Paige, Heath Jared Gassiot and Wife Katy; and great-grandchildren, Claire, Natalie, Paul, Russell, Emma, Abby, Bodi, and Penelope. She is also survived by her sister, Ruth Clifton of Abilene, along with many nieces, and nephews. Bettie is survived by her dear friend Imogene Jackson along with many other dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill Gassiot; her son, Michael Dwaine; and her siblings, Wyone Jameson, Billy Calley, Bobby Calley, Donald Calley, and Leon Calley.
Visitation will be at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday March 21, 2026. Funeral Services will be held following visitation at 11:00 a.m., followed by graveside services which will be held at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with arrangements under the direction of Harper Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Matt Nelson, Will Ford, Zan Gassiot, Heath Gassiot, Al Moreland, and Paul Nelson.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of The Crest, including Tanya, Anna, Michelle, Tiffany, Samantha, Taylor, Chasity, Leonor, Cheryl, Shelly, Jennifer, Lucy, and Hilaria for their compassionate care. Special thanks also to Gentiva Hospice, especially Sarai, for their kindness and tender care.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made in Bettie’s honor to Glen Meadows Baptist Church.
Bettie will be remembered for her loving spirit, her strong faith, and the lasting impact she made on everyone who knew her.
