Betty Jo Luckett

Betty Luckett 88, of San Angelo, TX passed away November 19, 2022. Betty was born on June 6, 1934 in Paint Rock, TX to Willie and Pauline Bishop. She attended Angelo State University and while there she was an angelette. After college she began work at GTE and retired after 30+ years. She was well respected and developed many long lasting friendships while at GTE. In her early years she enjoyed sewing, bowling and country western dancing. She remarried in 1981 to H.C. Luckett and enjoyed many wonderful years together until his passing in 2014. Our family has many fond memories at their country home, especially during Thanksgiving and Christmas. She loved to travel to Las Vegas and Ruidoso and always wanted family to join them when possible. She loved and supported all of her children and grandchildren for many years, attending many of their sporting events and other activities.

Betty is survived by two sons and one daughter: Rodney Whaley, Pam Whaley, Ken Whaley and wife Tarina. She was blessed with four grandchildren: Brandi Chism, Kody Whaley and wife Kelley, Trey Whaley and wife Kristen, Ryan Whaley and wife Olivia, and 9 great grandchildren. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren were her pride and joy.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Pauline Bishop and husband Herbert (H.C.) Luckett, brother Don Bishop, and nephew Henry Bishop.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022, from 5:00-7:00pm at Harper Funeral Home. Graveside service will be Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at 1:00pm at Fairmount Cemetery.
