Billie Fay Timm

Billie Fay Timm passed away Monday, September 10, 2018 in the Sagecrest Alzheimer’s Care Center. A funeral celebrating Billie’s life will be held in the Chapel of Harper Funeral Home on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at 1:00pm. A private interment will follow at the City Cemetery in Sterling City, Texas. Billie was born January 18, 1929 in Sterling City, Texas. She may have developed her keen sense of humor from her father, “Tat,” who nicknamed her “Ote” in her youth. Ote graduated high school in Sterling City and was a star of their varsity volleyball team. Following Billie’s graduation, the family moved to San Angelo. Billie attended business college in San Angelo and Midland. After graduation, Billie went to work as a secretary for several oil companies including Jones and Lyons. In the 1960’s, she became the private secretary of Robert Carr. After Mr. Carr’s passing, she continued to work for Mrs. Nona Carr. When her health began to fail in May 2018, Billie ended her long career as secretary for their daughter, Nona Gay. She leaves behind many friends from work at First Financial Bank. In 1957, Billie married Milton Henry Timm of Veribest. Ote and Milton acclimated themselves to the farming life after Milton’s stint with the Santa Fe Railroad. They made countless friends in the community and enjoyed several monthly dance clubs and social gatherings. Ote was fond of traveling, especially with her sister, Wanda Doss, to New York on tours arranged by Ken Ward Travel. They also frequently traveled to Dallas and occasionally Las Vegas. On these tours, Ote and Wanda were known as the “Texas Sisters” and were admired for their humor, vivaciousness, fearlessness and style. Billie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Milton, father, Fay William Cook, her mother, Willie B. Purvis, her sister, Wanda Hughes Doss, and her great-nephew, Trigg Jackson Hughes. Billie Fay Timm is survived by many friends and loved ones on the Timm side of the family, and by her nephew and his wife, “Bronc” and Julie Hughes. The last few months of Billie’s life were difficult, battling Alzheimer’s. Our sincerest thanks go out to Visiting Angels and Sagecrest for their kindness in her final days. Ote maintained a strong will and work ethic until the end, always wanting to return to the office. Now Billie is reunited with her beloved family and her Lord and Savior in Paradise. Billie will be missed by her family and all who had the pleasure of knowing her. She was loyal, steadfast, determined and wise.
