Blaine Lyndon Palmer

March 4, 1940 — November 4, 2026

San Angelo

Blaine Lyndon Palmer passed away Wednesday, November 4, 2026, at the age of 86 in San Angelo. Blaine was born March 4, 1940, in San Angelo to William Lindsey (Bill) Palmer, Jr. and Beulah Ruth Dobson Palmer. He graduated from San Angelo Central High School in 1958 and went on to Texas A&M University, where he served in the Corps of Cadets and was, for the rest of his life, a proud Fighting Texas Aggie, Class of 1962. Blaine married his high school sweetheart and soulmate, Ann Long on January 25, 1959, in San Angelo, and, upon graduation from Texas A&M he accepted his commission as a second lieutenant in the United States Army and served as a range officer at Fort Lee in Augusta, Georgia.

Returning to San Angelo, Blaine joined his father Bill and his brother Vance in building the present-day Palmer Feed & Supply, Inc. When the company established its feed mill in 1968, Blaine took charge of it and managed the mill for the rest of his career. He was steady, exacting, and very proud of the operation he ran, and generations of West Texas ranchers, and farmers depended on the quality feed that was produced under his stewardship.

Blaine was an avid reader of history and a skilled outdoorsman who never did anything halfway. Whether hunting or fishing, he took it to the next level, and he taught those around him to do the same. His collection of paleo artifacts, gathered over a lifetime of walking West Texas ground, was remarkable, and he knew the story behind every piece. In his fifties he discovered golf, and with it the camaraderie of the game and the friends who shared it with him. He and Ann made lasting memories and enjoyed many trips to New Mexico with their fifth-wheel. While Blaine was always highly organized and ran the feed mill with military precision and could bark orders like nobody else, he also possessed a very kindhearted and gentle side. He adored his four-legged dog and cat friends.

He is survived by his wife, Ann Long Palmer, of San Angelo; sister-in-law Sammie Speegle Palmer of San Angelo; nephews Vance Winston (Winn) Palmer, Jr. and his wife Allison of San Angelo, and Terry W. Palmer and his wife Ingrid of San Antonio; and great-nephews and great-nieces Austin, Kylie, Drew, and Blaine Palmer of San Angelo, and Skye, Karsten, and Kaitlyn Palmer of San Antonio. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.L. (Bill) and Beulah Palmer, and by his brother, Vance W. Palmer and by Ann’s parent’s Wallace and Lorraine Long of San Angelo.
