He was a captain for all three sports teams in his senior year. He attended Howard Payne University on a track scholarship before serving a 3-year tour in Germany, with the National Guard. Bob started his family and moved to San Angelo in 1959 and remained in the area the rest of his life. At age 60, he learned to breed, raise, and train Border Collies and won Sheep Dog trials and competitions all over the state. He worked with area ranches, during the Spring, to assist in gathering up of different breeds for the shearing session. Bob was asked yearly to put on Sheep Dog demonstrations for the kids during Old Fort Concho Days. Bob was preceded in death by his son Blake Leverett.
