Carla Sue "Susie" Barfknecht

Carla Sue “Susie” Stevens Barfknecht, age 77, of Eden, Tx passed away peacefully in her sleep after a lengthy illness, on Saturday April 13, 2024.Carla was a caring wife to Tony Barfknecht, a loving and caring Mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Her warm friendly smile welcomed everyone she met.

She had been a secretary for Easthaven Baptist church and school, an interpreter for special needs children at the Texas state juvenile facility in Brownwood and for Early High School special needs children. She also managed the food services for meals on wheels at the Eden Senior Center.

Carla Sue was born to Albert F Stevens and Eunice Rudloff Stevens on September 13, 1946 (she was brother Tex’s three-year birthday gift) in Brownwood Tx. She graduated from Early High School in 1965.

Carla and Tony met at a square dance, and they danced their way into marriage with their own festive square dance wedding.

Susie will be greeted in heaven by her parents Albert and Eunice, brother Tex, and nephew Kevin Stevens.

She will be greatly missed by husband Tony Barfknecht; son Casey Steven Whitney, daughter Carrie Whitney Butts and husband Kevin; sister Betty Stevens Delman and husband Donald; sister-in-law Carolyn Moore Stevens; five grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one expected angel Aralynn, and several nieces and nephews, and Don Barfknecht and Mindy Barfknecht Speck and husband Gary.
