Carol Ann Marie Dodds Ellis

Carol Ann Marie Dodds Ellis left this life to rejoice with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 13, 2026. Carol was born into our world on July 17, 1939, in Texarkana, Arkansas, to Robert Dodds and Kathleen Carrol Dodds. After spending her formative years in Worcester, Massachusetts, Carol proudly served her country by joining the United States Air Force.

During her military service, Carol met the love of her life, Melton Everett Ellis, a career Navy serviceman in Fort Worth, Texas. The two were soon married and began a life rooted in faith, service and family. After completing her military service, Carol pursued her passion for caring for others and became a Registered Nurse. She went on to build a distinguished nursing career, supervising surgical wards at several respected hospitals in Texas and Oklahoma.

Carol and Mel longed to have children, though doctors told Carol she would never be able to bear children. However, God had other plans. With unwavering faith, she held onto hope, and on June 30, 1966, their daughter, Kathleen Faith Ellis, was born. Carol chose the middle name “Faith” because she always had faith that she would bring a child into the world. Carol spent the last 42 years of her life in San Angelo, Texas, where she ran the surgical ward at St. John’s Hospital, successfully owned her own business, and found joy in spending time with family, arts and crafts and gardening for the rest of her days.

Carol was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Melton Everett Ellis, and her brother, Robert Dodds. She is lovingly remembered by her beloved daughter, Kathleen Faith Carrico, and son-in-law, Lance R. Carrico, of Brownwood; granddaughter, Shannon Leigh Schwartz, and husband, Nolan Schwartz, of San Angelo; grandson, John Thomas “Jack” Carrico, of Del Rio; and her great-grandchildren, Emmett Austin Schwartz and Sydney Leigh Schwartz.

Carol’s legacy of faith, resilience and devotion to her Savior will continue to live on through all who know and love her.
