Carol Lane West

Carol Lane West, born on February 14, 1934 to Margie and Phil Lane passed away at the age of 84. She is survived by her children, Jim West and his wife Marti, Margie Schraer and her husband Karl, her grandchildren Rebecca West, Anna Schraer and her fiance Bobby Doran, Garrett West and his wife Bailee, Elise Schraer, Stephen West, and Emily West. She is also survived by her sister Nancy White, sister-in-law Nancy Lane, and her nieces and nephews. Additionally, she embraced all of her children's friends and loved them as her own. Carol cherished her classmates from the Central High Class of 1952 and was the first San Angelo female to attend Rice University. She graduated from Rice in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science. After returning to San Angelo to teach, she married Jim West and traveled the world with him in the Air Force. They returned to San Angelo in 1967 and were involved in several San Angelo organizations over the years. Carol started teaching again in 1977 at Central High School and touched the lives of her students for over twenty years. She spent many sleepless nights grading papers looking for any way to give points and making lesson plans that would help each student learn and succeed. Carol loved people, her faith, and her country and avidly supported all three. A visitation will be held Monday, January 7, 2019 at First Christian Church Fellowship Hall on North Oakes from 3:00 P.M. - 5:00 P.M. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at First Christian Church on North Oakes at 3:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America or The Wounded Warrior Program.
