Charles Edwin "Ed" Hall

Charles Edwin (Ed) of Bandera passed away on February 19, 2026. He was born in San Angelo to William Frederic and Martha Inez Hickman Hall of Eden on October 9, 2026.

His early years through high school were spent in Eden where he and his friends rode their bikes and played sports. By high school, he excelled in track and football. When OU came calling with a football scholarship his senior year, Ed was excited to become an OU Sooner. Once again, he exceled. By his senior year, he was a team Captain, All Big-Eight, and All-American honorable mention. The highlight of his time as a Sooner was beating Texas his senior year.

Ed received his pharmacy degree during the Vietnam era and was commissioned a Navy ensign in the Medical Service Corps. Shortly after, while stationed in Seattle, he met graduate student, Sue Copeland. They were married December 27, 1969. For the next 26 years, they traveled throughout the U. S and Philippines.

Ed is proceeded in death by his mother and father, and brother, William Frederic Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Sue Copeland Hall, four sons, John of Katy, Derek (Vanessa) Plano, Joshua of Las Vegas, and Alex (Tatiana) Homestead, FL, sisters Nancy Davis Menard, Diane Eaton Birmingham, AL and brother David (Donna) Austin. His five grandchildren include Maddie and Max, Sophia, Stella and Skylar and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ed was a source of strength and stability for those around him. Underneath his calm demeanor, flowed a stream of passion for God and His Word, his country, family and friends. He refreshed his inner strength through weight-lifting, Sooner football, bluegrass and country music. Ed was a man who talked little, listened big; criticized seldom, praised often; hated never, loved, always. Ed said, “I AM a happy man.”
