Charles L. McDonald, age 76, of San Angelo, Texas, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2026.
Born on February 21, 1950, Charles was a cherished and unforgettable member of the San Angelo community. He was a proud graduate of Texas A&M University. To know Charles was to know a man with a famously ornery personality. He possessed a sharp, mischievous wit, a stubborn streak a mile wide, and a unique talent for getting a rise out of the people he loved most. Underneath that gritty exterior, however, was a deeply generous heart.
An outdoorsman through and through, Charles was an avid hunter and a passionate, knowledgeable collector of guns and knives. He absolutely loved and was deeply proud of his property in Voca, Texas, where he spent much of his time hunting. When he wasn't outdoors, he could almost always be found cheering on his favorite football teams or settling in to watch classic westerns. He was rarely alone during these times; Charles absolutely adored his chihuahua, Dude, who was always curled up right in his lap, watching TV right alongside him. Charles was happiest when trading knowledge about guns or history with his beloved happy hour buddies, sharing a laugh and a good story. Things will certainly be a lot quieter without him, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Charles is survived by his wife, Lynette McDonald; his stepdaughter, Taylor Crosby, and her husband, Troy; and his stepson, Clayton Hasty, and his wife, Lyn. He is also survived by his brother, Lyndon McDonald, and his wife, Linda, and his sister, Sandra Suddendorf, and her husband, Ron. Charles was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Clayton Archie McDonald and Ramona True Crouse.
In strict accordance with his wishes, no funeral services will be held. His family deeply appreciates your respect for his final wishes and your support during this time.
