Our Father and Hero, Claude James McNally, affectionately known as "Mr. Mac”, passed away peacefully in his sleep with his loving family at his side on Monday, December 31, 2018, reuniting with his wife and son. He was 94. Claude was born in San Saba, Texas on May 6, 1924, to Will and Viola McNally. He was the youngest of nine siblings. He was raised and lived in San Saba until he moved to San Angelo where he finished his schooling at Blackshear High School. He entered the United States Army in 1943. Dad served proudly for our country at one of the most difficult times, World War II. He was very eager and happy to share his war stories with anyone who would listen. Upon his return from the war he began working for the San Angelo Independent School District where he remained a dedicated employee for over 30 years at Blackshear Elementary. It was a joy for him to see the smiles on so many kids' faces as they came to school. He met and married the love of his life, Beauty Mae (Carson) McNally in Eola, Texas. They were married for over 60 years. In this union they raised six children. Claude was a devoted husband and father. He also enjoyed cooking big meals, fishing, and barbecuing for his family. He never met a stranger, and anyone that came by the house left with a full belly. He had the biggest sweet tooth and his favorite candy was peppermint, if you checked his pockets you would always find one there. He loved music and would spend hours listening to Sam Cooke and BB King. Dad resided at the VA in Big Spring, TX for the past 3 years. He touched the hearts of every veteran and stole the hearts of every nurse. They affectionately referred to him as "Poppa" and was loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son (Ronnie) and his eight siblings. He leaves to cherish his memories, sons: James Carson, Claude Carson (Johanna); and daughters: Ermalinda Jenkins (Charles), Twila Carson, and Beauty Minix (Ray); and host of grandchildren and great grandchildren.
