Curtis "Gene" Eugene Gray

October 17, 1939 — February 14, 2024

Curtis Eugene Gray, age 84, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024 in San Angelo, Texas. Gene was born on October 17, 1939 in McCamey, Texas to Preston and Callie (Criswell) Gray. Gene married the love of his life, Barbara Helen Templeton Gray, on December 12, 1975. They shared forty-eight beautiful years together.


Gene grew up in West Texas and was a 1958 graduate from Buena Vista High School in Imperial. Gene worked for several companies in the oil patch for over forty-five years, among them were Sinclair/Arco. After retirement, Gene and his son, Bryan Gray, started the EADO oil company. Gene served on the Wink Loving ISD school board and was a member of the Wink Lions Club. He was an avid football and track fan who loved watching his sons, grandchildren, and the Wink Wildcats. After Gene’s second retirement, he and Barbara enjoyed living the good life at the lake.


Those left behind to cherish his memory are his wife, Barbara Gray of San Angelo, TX; his children: Mike Gray of Kermit, TX; Bryan Gray of Silver, TX; Daniel Gray and wife Christin of Midland, TX; Leon Roach and wife Shannon of San Angelo, TX; and Tony Roach and wife Karen of Odessa, TX. Grandsons: Bryan Patrick Gray, Nicholas Gray, Hunter Roach, Zachery Roach, and granddaughters: Shelby Roach, Darby Roach, Kaci Roach, Taylor Gray, Aubrey Gray, and Georgia Gray. Great-grandchildren: Emerie Gray, Dexter Sherwood, and Archer Gray. Brother: Ronny Gray and wife Ann. Sister: Helen Pilkington.


He is preceded in death by his parents: Preston and Callie Gray.


Visitation will be Sunday, February 18, from 12:00-5:00 pm at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas. A celebration of life honoring Gene will be held at Harper Funeral Home on Monday, February 19 at 2:00 pm. Burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial. Pallbearers include: Barry Criswell, Dennis Kinczel, Rick McGehee, Randy Smith, Gary Warren, and Terry Warren.
