Cynthia A. Barnett Perez, 60, of San Angelo Texas departed this earth on March 21, 2026. Our beloved Cindy was born on December 5, 1965, in Oklahoma City, OK. She was the one and only cherished daughter of James C. Barnett and Charlotte E. Massingill. Cindy worked for 25 years at Community Hospital in San Angelo, becoming head of the cardiopulmonary department. She entered motherhood in 1984, and later wedded Gilbert C. Perez on the 14th of July 2001, embracing additional children as her own. Cindy became a saving grace to both the sick and motherless, leaving an enduring legacy. Preceded in death by both parents James and Charlotte, brother Paul, and son, Gabriel Rodriguez.
She is survived by her lifelong partner Darryl Harding of San Angelo; father of her children Gilbert Perez (Linda), son Joseph Ray Perez (Mercedes) and three daughters; Heather Brook Stone (Jessica), Chelsea Marie Perez and Alexis Renee Perez. Grandchildren who lovingly called her ‘Meme’; Crista Orozco (Alan), Tristian Rangel, Roman and Anthoney Rodriguez. Jedidiah G. Perez who she affectionately called ‘Bug’, Cyrus, Adalei and Hosanna Gonzales. Great grandson; Gabriel Orozco, being named after her late son, Gabriel R. Nieces and nephews; Whitney and Joshua Barnett, Tyme Barnett and Tamra Rich. Great nieces and nephews; Eviana and Xiana Luckey, Lynnix and Kreed Barnett. Bryson, E’Ana, Lashe’a and Kyren Garrison. Colton Lutrick and Kai Nguyen.
Special mentions of cherished friends; Kelly Gavit, Rebekka Harris and daughter, Carla W. Huskey, Pamula Bump and Kacy Hart. Hernan A. Zarate, MD., Cindy’s pulmonologist, provided compassionate care on her path to wellness. The family would like to express their gratitude to lifelong friend and generous benefactor, Catrina l. Hale Shafer.
Services are under the direction of Harper Funeral Home of San Angelo, Texas. Visitation and viewing for friends and relatives of Ms. Cynthia will be held at 3p.m. Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo. The memorial service will proceed thereafter with Evangelist Samuel Duran officiating alongside music minister Rudy Castanada and musician Wille Alvarado.
