Dan Charles Grounds

Dan Charles Grounds, 83, of San Angelo, passed away Saturday, May 23, 2020 at San Angelo Nursing and Rehab. Viewing will be Thursday, May 28, 2:00pm-4:00pm at Harper Funeral Home, and private graveside services will be at Talpa Cemetery on Friday. Dan was born November 15, 1936, in Brownwood, Texas. He was the son of D.H. and Lois Grounds, both of whom preceded him in death. Dan had a long career in the Texas Public School System and retired as Superintendent of the Grape Creek school system. Dan and longtime girlfriend, Linda Dhans, enjoyed dancing, movies, and eating out. They were members of the San Angelo Dinner Club, the San Angelo Performing Arts Center, the Angelo Civic Theater, and the San Angelo Western Dance Club. Survivors include his son, Don Grounds, of San Angelo; daughter Angie Fowler and husband Kevan, and grandsons Devin and Trent Fowler of Spring Branch; sister Jean Massey and husband Marvin of Houston. Linda and the family would like to thank Lawrence Thompson, longtime friend and neighbor, for all he's done to help out Dan over the last several years.
