On Wednesday, March 16, 2022, surrounded by singing, prayers, and family, Dana Lynn Cammack was welcomed into the arms of his dear savior, Jesus Christ. Dana was born in Brownwood, Texas on January 24, 1950 to Elbert and Geraldine. He attended schools in Texas, New Mexico and Alaska. He loved spending summers at Nannie Rea and Grandad’s farm as a child, enjoying family and being a true boy working and exploring on the farm. After graduating high school in Lovington, NM, Dana began working for GTE in 1969. He also joined the Army National Guard serving from 1970-1975. In 1981 he married Elizabeth “Libby” Springer. In 1991 he and Libby were transferred to San Angelo where he spent his remaining years and enjoyed being closer to his extended family. Dana enjoyed the outdoors, camping, fishing and hunting. He shared these gifts with his kids and grandkids, teaching them how to be patient, slow down, and be safe with these activities. From sports and nature to fine arts, he was actively involved in his children’s lives, fully supporting their dreams, education, and aspirations. More than anything, Dana loved his family. He would tell you it was his greatest treasure and prized possession. From the annual Graves’ reunion to weekend trips away, he enjoyed being silly, telling jokes, and laughing with his family more than anything. Affectionately known as “Granpa” since 2001, he and Libby traveled the country chasing their kids and grandkids at their many events. He shined with pride as he cheered on all his grandkids' many activities, never hesitating to share how proud he was to share in their experiences. Dana was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert “Mac” Cammack and Geraldine Wilson. He leaves behind many family members who loved him dearly, Libby Cammack, his wife of 41 years; sister Sandra Mocharnuk, her husband John of Weatherford, niece Alyssa and husband Joe of Massachusetts, and niece Kyla of Florida. His children: son, Eric Springer, wife, Juli, and daughters Breanne and Bailey of Lubbock; daughter Jennifer Farrar, her husband Tim, and granddaughter Reese of Abilene, daughter Heather Bolin, husband Jody, and grandchildren Linden and Beckam Mack of Lubbock. He also leaves behind an immense legacy of love with each member of the Graves Family and a network of loving friends, lifelong friends of their children, and a community who knew he was a generous person, devoted family man, and loving soul. A visitation will be held on Sunday, March 20, 2022, from 2:00 to 4:00 PM at Harper Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 21, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Southland Baptist Church.
