David Lemos “Gramps” “Papi” Trevino passed away on March 17, 2021, at the age of 67. David was born on June 14, 1953, in Kerrville, Texas, to parents Filomeno and Alicia Trevino. He had 2 brothers, Ernest and Filomeno, Jr., and a sister, Josie, and spent much of his childhood hanging out with his cousins, Larry Lopez and Jimmy Trevino. David graduated from Tivy High School in 1972 and then moved to San Angelo, Texas, to attend Angelo State University. David was hired at Goodyear Proving Grounds of San Angelo, Texas on June 27, 1974, and spent his entire career up until the date of his death proudly serving that organization. In 1977, he gained an instant family after marrying Mark, Mike and Christina’s mother, Gail, and from that day forward his greatest earthly purpose was being a family man. David’s very full life can be looked at as having been constructed on 3 pillars………..career, faith, and family. His career story is a Goodyear story, having worked at the Proving Grounds outside of San Angelo for nearly 50 years. He began his Goodyear story as a test driver, and within 11 years he earned a recognition for having driven 1 million miles safely on Goodyear’s behalf. David worked his way into management and filled various positions as a manager, even ending his Goodyear career as a manager. He was enormously proud of the people he worked with over the years and he maintained relationships with many retirees who had stepped away from their careers…..seeing those retirees was a special joy for him. David’s faith journey was truly that----a journey, complete with ups and downs. He understood that the example and leadership he modeled in pursuing his faith would lead to eternal impact on his family and friends, and so he was diligent in observing his faith. He found a real church home at Southland Baptist, and his Circle Of Friends Sunday School class held a special place in his heart. He talked over and over of how Scott Blanton, in particular, was so special to him and how he admired and respected Scott for his faith walk and for leading the men in that class. Southland Baptist had such a strong impact on him that he decided to be publicly baptized at the church a few years ago despite having been baptized into the Catholic faith as a young boy. The third pillar of David’s life, his family, was the strongest pillar, as David’s full energy was always pointed toward his family, of whom he was unspeakably proud. He became his grandchildren’s greatest fan, attending countless competitions in all weather conditions and all across Texas. Always cheering, always uplifting, always supportive, and always proud…….that’s the kind of fan David was. He held complete love for his family, even in the midst of disagreement. David showed everyone how to REALLY love each other and how to be devoted to each other in all circumstances. David is survived by his children, Coleen Young, and husband, Craig, of Utah; Mike Mistishen and wife, Elida, of Bedford, Texas, and Christina Bryant and husband, David, of San Angelo, Texas; his 12 grandchildren, Lance Williams, TJ Koors, Jacob Bodden, Kasee Bodden, Elizabeth Gonzales, Sarah Mistishen, Zoie Bodden, Hannah Walter, Piper Bodden, Mark Bryant, Addison Walter and Lorelei Bryant and his 19 great-grandchildren, Logan, Jaylea, Leah, Cameron and Connor Williams; Emilee, Kassh, Jaylee, Wyatt and Autumn Bodden; Paxton, Preslee and Paislee Rios; Kylie and Carson Mistishen, Kinsley and Elinor Gonzales, and Quentin and Aurora Koors. He is also survived by his sister, Josie Reyes of Kerrville, Texas, and her children, Melissa, Christine and Robert, a great-nephew/Godson, Marcus, and multiple other cousins, nieces, and nephews. David is predeceased by his son, Mark Williams, his two brothers, Ernest and Filomeno, Jr., and his parents, Filomeno and Alicia Trevino. A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 at 1:00pm at Southland Baptist Church.
