Deborah "Debbie" Kay Fontenot

September 30, 1961 — August 25, 2026

Deborah “Debbie” Kay (Moore) Fontenot, of San Angelo, passed away on August 25, 2026, at the age of 64. She was born on September 30, 1961, in Münchweiler Germany, to parents Donald and Estha (Lee) Moore.

Debbie grew up wild and free on the back of her faithful horse, Sugar, exploring the rolling plains of west Texas. An avid basketball player and son-he-never-had to her dad, she never missed an opportunity to put in work on the court or in the backyard workshop. Debbie graduated from Sweetwater High School in 1980, then went on to college at Angelo State University (ASU). After seven years of rigorous study and extra curriculars, she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business. Much of her professional career was spent as an administrative assistant at the Education Service Center Region 15, where she eventually retired in 2022 after 29 years.

In 1981, while attending ASU, Debbie met Jimmy Fontenot in the Block and Bridle Club, and they married on July 27, 1985. They had two children, Jetton and Colton.

Debbie loved spending time with her family and was known for being incredibly passionate about supporting her children in their endeavors; there was not a sport, stock show, or Safari Club International event she wasn’t actively involved in. She was an avid huntress

and hunted alongside her husband all over the world and as a founding member of the “YAYA’s”, she never missed an opportunity to get together with her group of long-time gal pals and their families to have fun and celebrate each other’s life milestones. Debbie also loved a good night out dancing, but you could always count on her to retire to her trusty night-gown when it was time to wind down.

We know that Debbie is enveloped by the love of her father, Donald Moore; and father-in-law, Nolan Fontenot, who passed before her. She is survived by her husband, Jimmy Fontenot; mother, Estha Moore; mother-in-law, Nancy Fontenot; brothers-in-law, Randy Fontenot and wife Jill and Daniel Fontenot and wife Rhonda; daughter, Jetton Klepac and husband Cody; son, Colton Fontenot and wife Christina; and two future grandsons, Knoll Klepac and Carter Fontenot.
