Deborah "Debbie" Kay Roberts

September 4, 1953 — November 1, 2026

Christoval

Deborah “Debbie” Kay (Wood Brunt) Roberts, 73, of Christoval, TX peacefully passed away Sunday morning, November 1, 2026, wrapped in the arms of her beloved children.

Debbie was born on September 4, 1953, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Nathaniel Wood and Kay (Culton) Brunt, (adopted) step-daughter to Pate Brunt, all who preceded her in death. She is survived by her husband, James D G Roberts, of 47 wonderful years, her daughter and best friend, Courtney Leigh Eichenberger, married to Chad Eichenberger, and her son, Joshua James Roberts, married to Courtney Roberts. She was a loving and thoughtful grandmother to Courtney and Chad’s children, Emaleigh and Rhett, and to Joshua and Courtney’s children, Elliot, Jack, Adelaide, and Charlotte.

Throughout Debbie’s professional career, she was respected by many, leaving a lasting impression within each institution she worked. Often considered irreplaceable, her efficiency, commitment to excellence, and attention to detail set her apart. Her value was appreciated by one employer; they allowed her the opportunity to bring her 6 week old son to work with her for several months so that she would not resign. She later “retired early” from the workforce and dedicated her efforts to support the administrative side of her husband’s business venture.

Throughout her life, Debbie had a love for horses and dogs, a passion that afforded her the experience of being a jockey at a young age and for decades, owning and training many equine and canine. She particularly loved Arabian horses and various dog breeds, each pet leaving its special imprint throughout her lifetime. She also loved music, was a skilled pianist and had a passion for dancing, revealing her lighthearted nature and contagious energy that inspired others to join in. In later years, it was those simple wonders of God’s creation she found joy and peace. She loved watching clouds drift across the West Texas skies, anticipated seasonal visits of hummingbirds, roaming deer and observing barn swallows build their nests; all comfortably viewed from her elegant chair, strategically positioned by the large picture window where she sat most every morning with the love of her life. Debbie’s appreciation for the little things was an inspiration to those around her, a reminder to not take life for granted and to enjoy the beauty in everyday moments. She was a counselor to many, a great story-teller of everyday events (that could only happen to her), turning the ordinary to extraordinary, and infamous for telling others “You have a blessed day and do that on purpose.”

Debbie was a Christian whose faith in Christ was demonstrated in kindness, compassion, and strength throughout her life. This faith provided a foundation for the way she cared deeply for others and the gentle way she made those around her feel loved. Her family was her greatest joy, and nothing brought her more happiness than the people she loved.

While her family and friends grieve her passing, they find comfort in the promise of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Her earthly journey has ended, but her faith and the love she gave will continue through the generations of family she leaves behind. We remember her beautiful smile, gentle spirit and calming presence. She gave us a lifetime of love, treasured memories, and a legacy of faith and devotion to her family.

A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 14, 2026, at 10:30am at Glen Meadows Baptist Church in San Angelo, TX, with a reception to follow.
