Donald Ray Eikenbary left us to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 13, 2018. Donnie was born December 8, 1945 in Oklahoma City, Ok, son of Frank “Bud” and Helen Eikenbary. Donnie grew up in Oklahoma and Kansas as a farmer’s son. He graduated from Burton High School in Burton, Kansas. After graduation Donnie joined the US Navy and served in the Vietnam War as a member of a helicopter flight crew. Donnie married the love of his life, Donna Jean McClelland, on June 6, 1969. Together they had and raised two beautiful children; Helen and Michael. Donnie had many skills and he used them to support his family through the years; including electrician, carpenter, architect, general contractor and cotton warehouse foreman. Donnie went to work for the US Postal Service in 1985 as a letter carrier. He served as NALC President for over 10 years. During his time as NALC President he worked with many non-profit groups such as the United Way, the Boys & Girls Club, the Red Cross and Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Donnie was a respected leader and loved to help people. No job was ever too big or too small and he was not intimidated by any task. Donnie was preceded in death by his parents Frank & Helen Eikenbary and his daughter Helen Williams. He is survived by his loving wife Donna Eikenbary, his son Michael and wife Julie Eikenbary, Grandchildren: Kari and husband Travis, TerryDon, Cheri, Airica, Nathaniel, Matthew, Kristofer, Timothy, Katie, Tanasha and many beloved great-grandchildren. Papa Donnie was a kind, caring, hard-working and amazing man who brought joy to all who knew and loved him. His sense of humor knew no bounds, he would find comedy in every situation. There will forever be a piece missing in our hearts and lives. The family invites you to attend a visitation on Tuesday September 18, 2018 from 6-8pm and Funeral service on Wednesday September 19, 2018 at 3:00pm at Harper Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Grape Creek Cemetery.
