Dorothy Marie Peek Sparks passed to her Heavenly Home on September 11, 2018. Dorothy was born December 7, 1920 in Merkel, TX to Albert and Sallie Peek. At age 4, she and her family moved to Concho County, TX in the White Point Community. In school, she was very active in all sports that girls could play at that time and she was noted for her fast-underhanded pitch in softball. Dorothy graduated from Eola High School and moved to Eden to work at the Pfluger Gas Station where her brother, Carl, worked. There she met R. D. Sparks and they were married October 17, 1943. They began farm life on the old Sparks Homestead east of Eden. Dorothy was a member of Eden Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She was a wonderful cook and seamstress and won many awards at the San Angelo Stock Show. In 1977, they moved to San Angelo due to R.D.'s ill health. He preceded her in death in 1986. She continued to live in their home until 2006 when she moved to Royal Estates (Lyndale).
