Elizabeth "Beth" Nan Prothro Kopecky

Elizabeth “Beth” Nan Prothro Kopecky, of San Angelo, TX died peacefully on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, after a brief illness. She was born December 31, 1922, in Midland, TX to Frank and Nan Terry Prothro. She graduated from Midland High School in 1941 and went into the work force as a bank employee, then moving up the scale to become a bookkeeper.

In 1948, Beth met the love of her life, Lamar Kopecky at a church function. After dating for several months, they married on November 24, 1948. Their son, Gene was born in 1950; they moved from Midland to San Angelo in 1951, and their daughter Martha “Marti” was born in 1953.

Beth was very active in her church, being an officer in the United Methodist Women, singing in the choir, and being the kind of Christian that women are supposed to be, showing younger women how to be Christlike without being overbearing.

Beth was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lamar, and her son Gene. She is survived by her daughter Marti, of Osceola, MO; 3 grandsons, Timothy, Christopher, and Kyle Buckner; 1 Granddaughter, Kymberlee Suiter; 5 Great Grandsons; 1 Great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins, and friends.

The Funeral Service will be 1:00 P.M., Friday, November 17, 2023, at The First Methodist Church in San Angelo. The burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.
