Elsie Amile Wilde

Elsie Amile Wilde, 97, of Wall, Texas went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 29, 2018 in San Angelo. Elsie was born August 17, 1921 in Rowena, Texas to Walter and Mary Woehl Schwertner. She grew up in Rowena and attended school at Crossroads which was a one room school. She married Robert Wilde on August 27, 1940 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rowena, Texas in a double ceremony with her brother Alfred and Louise. Elsie and Robert lived in Rowena, Vancourt and eventually settled in Wall, TX. She was many things to her family, including being a bookkeeper for her brother Armin's Cotton Gin, and was a self-employed Seamstress, specializing in wedding dresses and attendant's dresses. Her many talents did not stop there. She loved the social interaction with brides to be and their families while she sewed, but she also worked all aspects of the family farm. She could drive a tractor, pick cotton, harvest crops and care for the livestock as well as anyone. Elsie brought her talents into the kitchen with her love of baking and canning of garden-fresh vegetables. She enjoyed quilting, playing dominoes and traveling in her spare time. Elsie was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Helen's Altar Society and loved her church home, St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Her place at the parish festival was being a devoted worker in the desert section. Elsie was an amazing woman with many talents and her love for others shined with everything she did. She will be dearly missed by her loving family and cherished friends. Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, and family members, Ben and Josephine Schwertner, Lucy and Louis Cmerek, Marie and William Wilde, Armin and Lena Mae Schwertner, Alfred and Louise Schwertner and Henry Sturm. She is survived by her Brother, Andrew Schwertner and his wife Rosa, of Lowake, TX; her Sister Rosalie Sturm, of Wall; and numerous nieces and nephews, other family members and close friends. The Vigil Service will be 6:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 1, 2018 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will be 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 2, 2018 at St. Ambrose Catholic Church. Burial will follow at St. Ambrose Catholic Church Cemetery. The Family would like to thank all who took care of Elsie, especially the caring staff at The Springs.
