Ernest Carroll “Carroll” Swafford, Jr., 74 years old, passed away with his wife by his side, on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, after a courageous and hard-fought battle with cancer. Carroll was born on December 15, 1950, in Uvalde, Texas to Ernest Carroll Swafford, Sr. and Alta Marie (Sparks) Swafford. He married Dallas Anne O’Bryant on May 25, 1989, and they remained married for 36 years before his passing. He is survived by his wife, Dallas, a son Bryan Keith Swafford, and a brother, Tommy Swafford (wife Linda). Carroll was preceded in death by his mother and father.
Carroll retired from being self-employed as a general contractor of both residential and commercial construction. He contracted for General Telephone (and then Verizon) for quite some time. Carroll would say that Dallas was spoiled (and he wasn’t wrong) because he built each house they lived in. After his retirement, Carroll stayed busy with various projects such as building metal furniture and participating in shoots around the United States. His true passion was shooting, and that passion only grew stronger with every shoot he attended. Carroll missed his “shooting family” tremendously when he was no longer able to participate.
Special thanks to the following for their love, care, and support over the last couple of years: Dr. Peter Chang, Dr. Manuel Dominguez, and the Interim Health Care team. Additionally, to our close friends and family (you know who you are), for visiting, running errands, prayers and support during this fight. Carroll and Dallas appreciate it more than words can express.
Arrangements are made by Harper Funeral Home where visitation will take place on Monday, October 6, 2025, from 11 am to 1 pm.
God rest his soul.
