God our savior gently took a golden heart and soul to rest in peaceful eternity on Thursday, January 17, 2019. Evelyn was known by most as Nana. She was born in San Angelo to Deck and Exa Arthur and was raised in Knickerbocker and Christoval. She attended school in San Angelo. She married the love of her life Clarence K. Vordick on November 22, 1955. Together they made their home in San Angelo raising their three children: Michael D. Vordick (Cathy) of Spring Branch, Deborah J. Williams (Terry) of San Angelo, and Carol E. Ferguson (Rick) of Mertzon. Evelyn proudly served Tom Green County for 38 years, and 15 years at tax assessor. She was devoted and loved the ladies of the office as she instilled a legacy of professionalism, respect, and class to all. Her utmost best known accomplishment was being “Nana”. Her door was always open as she left a porch light on for countless friends or family. She was known to always have breakfast, lunch, and dinner for family and friends on a daily basis. Nana was a true woman of class and elegance as she always provided an open ear, advice, comfort and had an abundance of love for all. She was a true lady of grace, wisdom, a caring nature, tolerance and love, which she instilled in all who she knew. She is survived by daughters Deborah and Carol, and son, Michael. Seven grandchildren, Terry Ken Williams, Jerrie Danz, Jennifer Clairmont, Michelle Ferguson, Teena Plona, Travis Vordick, and Tyson Vordick. Eight great grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. A cousin she considered a sister, Su Ann Henderson (Joe). Deya Marques, who was her special granddaughter and Jimmy Allen, who she thought of as a son, and special friend Debra Roberts Preceding her in death are husband, Clarence, parents, daughter-in-law Debra Vordick and sister, Billie Jean Beck. A Graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, January 21, 2019 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens. Special thanks to all at Baptist Memorials Division 5, the Allison House at Sagecrest, Hospice of San Angelo, and Dr. Norma Cerna, all of whom gave Nana comfort and took care of her every need.
