Frances Manitzas Tefas

Frances Manitzas Tefas, 87, of San Angelo passed peacefully and beautifully away Tuesday at her home with her husband and family by her side. Prayer service will be at 6p.m. at Harper's Funeral Home chapel on Monday. Funeral service will be at 10a.m. Tuesday at Assumption of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church at the comer of Kenwood and Montecito. Services will be officiated by the Rev. Mark Lichtenstein. Burial will follow in Fairmount Cemetery. Frances was born August 11, 1931 in San Angelo to Steve and Helen Manitzas. She graduated from Central High School in 1948 and was a head bookkeeper at the San Angelo National Bank for 7 years. She married Steve Tefas on September 2, 1956 and they were blessed with over 62 years of happy marriage. Through her husband's career in the Air Force, she visited much of Europe and twice resided in Germany. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother who always put her faith and trust in the Lord, and we know He welcomed her with open arms. She enjoyed her many years of volunteer service especially with the local Orthodox church, the San Angelo Area Council PTA and the West Texas A&M Mother's club. Her family and many friends also fondly remember her wonderful meals and delicious baked goods at Christmas. Frances was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Frank S. Manitzas. She is survived by her husband, Lt. Col. (ret) Steve G. Tefas; children Steve and Rebecca Tefas and Stephanie and Ted Snedden; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Manitzas and Olga Ballis; nieces Pamela Uhr and Stan McElroy, Debbie and Phillip Trueman and Thea and Tommy Choate and nephews Steve Manitzas, Thomas and Marsha Manitzas and Bill Ballis. The family extends its gratitude to Solaris Hospice and all of her special caregivers over these past months. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Assumption of the Virgin Mary Orthodox Church.
