Frank Book, Jr.

May 23, 1935 — March 10, 2024

Frank Book Jr., known by family and friends as Junior, JR, Grandpa, Dad, and Teddy Bear, entered eternal rest on Sunday, March 10, 2024.

Frank was born May 23, 1935, in Miles, Texas to Frank William Book and Leona Willberg. Frank grew up in Miles, Texas, and later moved to San Angelo where he graduated from Lake View High School in 1953. Frank met the love of his life, Beverly Strube, at St. Anthony’s Dance Hall. They married in 1956. After high school, Frank started his farming and ranching career with his dad. He later shared his passion for stewardship of the land with his son and grandsons.

Frank was very active in his community. He was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council 2136, served on the Tom Green County Farm Service Agency for nine years, and was the San Angelo Area Conservation Farmer in 1979. He was an active member of the Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart and served as the festival sausage chairman for many years.

Of the things he loved most, spending time with his family ranching, farming, and hunting was what he cherished the most. He spent many deer seasons taking family members hunting at family land in Silver resulting in Grandpa’s Sausage becoming a staple in all of his family members' freezers. Frank spent countless hours with his friends from the Red Creek Gun Club swapping stories of the one that got away. He loved watching the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys and spent many evenings cheering on his teams from his beloved chair.

Frank was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Beverly, his parents Frank and Leona, brother Clarence Book, and sister-in-law Mary Ann Book. He is survived by sister Linda Dierschke and husband Norman; sisters-in-law Cleo Eddy and Shirley Wilde; daughters Carrie Hallman-Weathersby and husband Scott, Cindy Morton and husband Rob, and son, Bert Book; grandchildren Garrett Hallman and wife Larrah, Grant Hallman and wife Maddie, Madison Miquelon and husband Peter, Miranda Morton, Bethany Bryan and husband Patrick, Kiley Book, Zackary Book, and Quade Book; great-grandchildren Olivia, Landry, and Hayden Hallman, Gunnar Hallman, Tilden and Lakynn Bryan along with many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Kiley Book, Zackary Book, Quade Book, Roy Book, Garrett Hallman, Grant Hallman, Patrick Bryan, and Peter Miquelon. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 13 at Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, March 14 at the Cathedral Church of the Sacred Heart with Monsignor Larry Droll officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to West Texas Boys Ranch or Meals for the Elderly.
