Frank L. Van Sickle Iii

June 10, 1947 — July 17, 2022

Frank Louis Van Sickle III, 75 years of age, passed away on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at Shannon Hospital after an accident at home. Frank was born June 10, 1947, in Cadillac, Michigan to Dick and Winona Van Sickle. The family moved to San Angelo in 1959. He attended San Angelo Central High School where he was a member of the Bobcat Band. He graduated in 1965. Frank married Linda Berman on May 12, 1967, in San Angelo, where they lived their lives together for the past 55 years. Their daughter, Pamela, was born in 1970. Their son, Jay, was born in 1977. Linda’s brother, James, came to live with them at the age of twelve in 1973 and was raised as one of their own children. In addition to his employment at San Angelo Ethicon, where he retired with 37 years of service, Frank operated Van Sickle Cutlery from 1971 until his passing. He crafted thousands of knives during those years with his V-Sickle trademark stamped on each blade. He took great pride in designing, crafting, and providing the most durable and functional knives with the sportsman in mind. He enjoyed many outdoor activities over the years...racing motorcycles, hunting, fishing, camping, hiking, snow and water skiing, boating, sailing, and Dutch oven cooking. His favorite place to vacation was Lake City, Colorado, where he and Linda spent time in their Jeep traveling the mountain trails. He also enjoyed attending his children’s and, later, his grandchildren's school activities and sporting events as well as many family gatherings over the years. He was blessed to have a number of special friends and extended family who have shared their concern, love, and generosity. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law, James Berman. Survivors include his wife, Linda; daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Jeff Blackwell of Fredericksburg, Texas; son and daughter-in-law, Jay and Sarah Van Sickle of San Angelo; grandchildren Shaymus O’Connor, Caitlyn O’Connor, Bevyn O’Connor, Mason Van Sickle, Marshall Van Sickle, Charli Beth Blackwell, Emili Blackwell, Alexis Blackwell, and Kyle Blackwell. There will be no services held at this time as per Frank’s request. Family and friends may share condolences and sign the online register book at www.harper-funeralhome.com.
