Gary Ray Alexander, 58 of Miles, Texas went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, September 29, 2016 in San Angelo. Gary was born July 21, 1958 in Tucson, Arizona to Kenneth and Charlotte Underwood Alexander. As the youth of a military family, he lived all over the country, but most of his childhood was spent with his Grandparents in Brady, Texas. He met and married the love of his life, Janice Redman on May 28, 1977 and they spent 39 beautiful years together. Gary attended St. Paul School of Theology and graduated in 1998. He was a great man of faith and ministered various churches within the Methodist Conference for many years. Gary was a loving husband, father and grandfather, who took great pride in watching his sons play sports while they were growing up. Later he enjoyed watching his sons coach various sports for their school where they were teaching and coaching and always asked the outcome of every game each week. He devoted his life to his family and always enjoyed being with his family. In his spare time, he loved fishing and working with his hands, being a great craftsman, collecting windmill art, talking sports with his sons and shopping online. Gary was very giving in nature and loved being of service to others. He gave of his time effortlessly and with great passion. He became a Precinct 9 Judge for Runnels County Elections, was a 32-degree Mason, a member of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Concho Suez Shriner’s Club, where he was a Ring Candidate in 1980 and won it, and a past worthy Patron for The Order of the Eastern Star in Brady, TX. Gary was also a very strong supporter of Emmaus and worked numerous Chrysalis events and Walk’s to Emmaus. There was never a dull moment around Gary, he was always so full of life. His tremendous love and passion for his family and others will remain in our hearts forever! He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Alexander, of Miles, TX; his Sons, Robbie Alexander and his wife Hope, of Kerrville, TX., and Jared Alexander and his wife Jordan, of Royse City, TX; his 2 Grandsons, Sutton Alexander, of Kerrville, TX., and Sagan Alexander, of Royse City, TX; his Mother, Charlotte Underwood, of San Angelo; his Father, Kenneth Alexander, of Abilene, TX; his Mother and Father-in-law, Daniel and LaVerne Redman, of Miles; his Brother, Dwayne Alexander, of Abilene, TX; his Sister, Dana Larson and her husband, Larry “Skip” Larson, of San Angelo; Numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of Pastor friends in the Southwest Texas Annual Conference of United Methodist Church. Pallbearers for the service will be nephews Justin Hoelscher and Hunter Redman, Zack Cook, Larry Ray, Larry "Skip" Larson and Donnie Bynum. The Funeral Service will be 2:00 P.M., Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Miles United Methodist Church with Rev. Gary Karschner officiating. Interment will follow at Miles Cemetery in Miles, Texas. Donations may be made to the Miles United Methodist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 205, Miles, Texas 76861, or a favorite charity.
