Gary Don Nixon

Gary Don Nixon, 63 years young, passed away on August 4, 2026.

Gary was born in San Angelo, Texas, on April 30, 1963. Born to Vernon Nixon and Imogene Taft, Gary was their youngest son.

Gary was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He married Robin Schlittler of San Angelo in 1985 and remained with her until her passing in 2000. He later married Tina Barkis of San Angelo in 2016 and remained happily married to her until his passing.

Gary will be remembered for his witty sense of humor and loving nature. He is survived by his wife, Tina Nixon; his daughter, Kimberly Edgar, and son-in-law, Jesse Edgar; and stepsons Trey and Jacob Thompson.

His grandchildren knew him as “PawPaw” and loved him dearly. His surviving grandchildren are Kiley and Emma Wheless of San Angelo and Rayne Watters of Michigan City, Indiana.

He is also survived by his sister, Jeanette Woolever, of San Angelo, and his brother, Michael Nixon, of Austin, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Vernon Nixon and Imogene Taft; his first wife, Robin Nixon; his son, Aaron Nixon, of San Angelo; and his beloved sidekick, his dog, Punkin.
