Gary Olen Scott

April 22, 1944 — April 22, 2019

Gary Olen Scott, 75, of Blackwell, Texas went to be with the Lord on Sunday, April 22, 2019 in San Angelo, TX. Gary was born April 22, 1944 in Mexia, Texas to Gordon Olen Scott and Joshlyn “Joy” Van Deman Scott. His family later moved to Hobbs, N.M. where he grew up and graduated from Hobbs High School. After High School, Gary entered the United States Army where he served his country honorably during the Vietnam War. Gary worked various jobs after his service but became a heavy equipment operator for Allstate Construction Company. He worked his way up to supervisor before retiring in 1990. Gary had a knack for photography and started his own studio, Southwest Photography. He was also very talented in welding, and at one point owned a company that created custom made decorative gates and other wrought iron items. Gary married Delrose Terry on October 5, 1988 and they shared 21 wonderful years together. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, playing music, taking photographs, and gambling. He was a loving son, husband and father, but his most endearing quality was his own “special language” known only to his family and close friends. Gary will dearly be missed by all who knew and loved him! He was preceded in death by his father Gordon Olen Scott and his wife Delrose Terry Scott. Gary is survived by his mother, Joshlyn “Joy” Scott, of Blackwell, TX; his 2 sons, Bryan Scott and his wife Misty, of Blackwell, TX., and Greg Scott and his wife Jennifer, of Hobbs, N.M.; 1 Step-Daughter; 6 Grandchildren; his brother, Dennis Scott, of Tow, TX; and numerous other family members and friends. The Memorial Service will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday, April 25, 2019 at Harper Funeral Home Chapel in San Angelo, Texas. Family and friends may share condolences and sign the online register book at www.harper-funeralhome.com
