Gasper G. Coronado

Gasper Coronado of San Angelo passed away on August 30, 2026, at the age of 81.

He was born on September 2, 1944, to Manuel Sr. and Maria Guerrero Coronado in Brownsville, Texas.

While stationed at Goodfellow AFB, Gasper met the love of his life, Anna Soto, whom he married on October 28, 1967. Together, as devout Catholics, they built a beautiful life firmly centered around family and faith.

Fluent in English and Spanish, Gasper joined the Air Force with the intention of entering the clergy. However, following his assessment, he was assigned as a linguist, becoming fluent in French and gaining a working knowledge of Arabic and Russian.

While in the service, Gasper traveled the world, spending time in Germany and England, and was stationed—with Anna along for the ride—in California and Nebraska. After eight years, he settled in Knickerbocker, Texas, and later San Angelo, Texas, where he eventually retired from GTE/Verizon after 30 years.

Gasper graduated from Angelo State University with a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA).

He mastered crossword puzzles, enjoyed playing golf, never missed a Dallas Cowboys game, and loved books. He was a lifelong learner who stayed on top of local and world events, always willing to discuss any topic without bias. Music and dancing were both passions of his; he was the first on the dance floor, whether Anna wanted to join or not. This incredibly positive man did not take life for granted. His optimism, inner strength, and love for his family helped him defy the odds time and time again.

Gasper had an aura of calmness, patience, and understanding; he never made anyone feel less than. He had a way of offering advice like no other, never passing judgment. This grace never wavered, even while he went through various health hardships. He was, without a doubt, a blessing to all who were fortunate to know him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel R. and Maria G. Coronado, and his siblings: Baltazar Coronado, Mary Silva (Juan ✝), Theresa C. Rodriguez (Ignacio ✝), Lee Coronado, and Melchor Coronado.

Gasper is survived by his wife, Anna, of San Angelo, and his children: Rebecca Coronado of Austin, Daniel Coronado of San Antonio, and Teresa and her husband D Wysong of Washington.

Also known as Grampy and Grandpa, he leaves behind three grandchildren who brought him immense joy: Alexia Coronado, Elijah Coronado, and Isabella Coronado all of San Antonio.

He is also survived by his siblings: Joe Coronado (Fita ✝) of Austin, Manuel Coronado (Cande) of San Antonio, Esther Bustamante (Frank ✝) of Pasadena, Magdalena Ramirez (Mario ✝) of Houston/Raymondville, Lucy Cavazos of Raymondville, Norma Olvera (Leonel✝) of Raymondville, and sister-in-law Alicia Coronado, of Buda.

To his three buddies at dialysis who were always there—whether sitting in the car waiting for his arrival to walk him in, or sitting in the lobby waiting for us to pull up so you could greet him and carry his bag inside or to the vehicle upon pickup—we treasure your consistent kindness, and he did, too.

And finally, a special thank you to our dear Mom, Anna, whose unwavering love, devotion, and tireless care for our Dad was instrumental in gifting us additional time with him.

The Rosary Service will be, Friday, September 4 at 6:00pm, at Harper Funeral Home in San Angelo, Texas.

The Funeral Mass will be Saturday, September 5, 2026 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Knickerbocker, Texas (12264 W. Torres Road, Knickerbocker, TX 76939.) The burial will follow at Knickerbocker Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers for the service will be Michael Rangel, John Paul Rangel, Mario Rangel, Gabriel Rangel, Primo Gonzales, and Henry Begil.
