Georgia Sue Klutts, 78, passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on March 19, 2026.
Sue was born May 21st, 1947 to Hubert and Cora Dishman in San Angelo, Texas. She is preceded in death by her parents.
Sue met the love of her life, Steve Klutts, on a blind date in July of 1968, and was married 3 months later on October 11th. They have shared 57 years of a Christ-centered marriage. You rarely saw one without the other. Their love was true and unconditional for one another.
She graduated in the last class from Shannon Nursing School in 1968. Her nursing career consisted of loving on the babies in the Shannon Nursery, Oral Surgeon Assistant for Dr. Moutos, a Migrant nurse for SAISD, and an Administrative Assistant for Hospice of San Angelo.
She also spent numerous years providing love and care to many children in her home as a Child Care Provider. She has always considered each of these children her extended family.
She is survived by her husband, Steve. Her daughters and son-in-laws, Terri & Jeff Young and Trish and Jeff Williams all of San Angelo. She is also survived by her sister, Pat Dishman, as well as sister-in-laws and brother-in-law, and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving her is cousin, Stan McDonald, and neighbors and friends at Brayden Park Assisted Living Facility. Her biggest joys include her grandchildren; Erin Odell & spouse Colby, Jake Young & spouse Sarah, Tucker Young & partner Barrett Kerr, Peyton Jost, Luke Young, and Slayton Jost. As well as her great-grandchildren Corbyn and Blakely Odell.
Family holidays were her favorite seasons of life. She celebrated all birthdays to the fullest and decorated for Christmas as if she were a part of the Griswald family herself. She never missed a grandchild’s sporting event, piano concert, play, pep rally, graduation, or wedding. You would know where her grandchildren attended school based on her numerous bumper stickers or daily attire. Sue was known for her big smile, warm hugs, slipping cash to the grandkids behind their parents’ backs, and making the best scrambled eggs in the world.
Following her stroke in 2024, Sue was very persistent to reach her goal of walking again. She succeeded that goal and is now able to run with Jesus. Sue spent the majority of her life devoted to servanthood in the church including many years of ministry at Immanuel Baptist Church and Glen Meadows Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank the ICU staff and especially her nurse, Richard Casarez. They would also like to thank WTRC Hospice of San Angelo staff and the Brayden Park staff.
Celebration of Life will be held at Glen Meadows Baptist Church on Monday, March 23rd at 2:00pm followed by a graveside at Lawnhaven Cemetery. Visitation will be at Harper’s Funeral Home on Sunday, March 22nd from 3-5pm.
