Gloria Mae Sheffield

Gloria Mae Sheffield passed away peacefully on April 30, 2025, at the age of 94. Gloria was born January 3, 1931 to Dan and Vada Glenn of San Angelo, Texas. She lived her entire life in San Angelo except for the last year when she moved to Mansfield, Texas in order to be closer to family.

Gloria married Rushing Sheffield in 1952. They had two children, Doyle Lee and Valerie Kay. Gloria was an active partner in Rushing’s business until they retired in 1996. After retirement, they both enjoyed playing golf with friends at San Angelo Country Club and Alto Lakes Country Club in New Mexico. Rushing and Gloria spent 65 happy years together before he passed away in 2017.

Gloria graduated from San Angelo College. She served as assistant director of the Make it Yourself with Wool Contest, which was held at San Angelo College. In addition, she served as chairman for both the Home Demonstration Council of Tom Green County and the food division of the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo. Gloria also enjoyed assisting in many 4-H activities.

Gloria is preceded in death by her husband, Rushing Sheffield and son, Doyle Sheffield. She is survived by her daughter, Valerie Warneke, son-in-law, Jamey Warneke, two grandchildren, Jenna and Ryan, brother, Danny Glenn, and a very special friend, Barbara Block, and her husband, Carl. Gloria is also survived by her dog, Diesel, a constant companion and source of comfort. She would like to acknowledge those who assisted her later in life in San Angelo, Valerie Queen and Marcia Wickes, as well as Visiting Angels, Eunice and Brenda. The family is also grateful for the staff and residents at Legend of Mansfield for their friendship and support this past year.

There will be a visitation at Harper Funeral Home Monday, December 12th from 5:00-7:00 pm. A family graveside service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Meals for the Elderly or a charity of your choice.
