Goldie Delores Mccormick Baker

August 26, 1939 — November 18, 2019

Goldie Delores McCormick Baker, 80, of San Angelo went to be with the Lord on Monday, November 18, 2019 in San Angelo. Goldie was born August 26, 1939 in Talihina, Oklahoma to Sam and Jewell Bell McCormick. Goldie graduated from Buffalo Valley High School. She married Walter Newton Powell on December 7, 1958 and they shared 11 wonderful years together and raised three children. Goldie was a loving homemaker who devoted her life to her family. She also worked a number of years at WTU as a dispatcher before retirement. In her spare time, she enjoyed watching various television programs and spending time with her family. Goldie also had a passion for music and loved to sing and listen to country music. She was herself very feisty individual and brutally honest with everyone she met. However, she treasured her family and friends with an intensity most people do not display. Her love of family and friends and her beautiful spirit will remain in our hearts forever and we will dearly miss her! Goldie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Walter, and two brothers, Lane McCormick, and Ed McCormick. She is survived by her children, Johnny Powell and his wife, Kimberly, of San Angelo, Deborah Hinojosa, of San Angelo and Scott Powell and his wife Leah, of Sunnyvale, TX; her Grandchildren, J.W. Powell, Quint Powell, Dakota Hinojosa, Conner Powell Kassie Coffey, Jace Stovall and Jennifer Corwin; her Great Grandchildren Emily Powell, Khira Santiago, Matthew Powell, Damien Berens, Liam Corwin, Khyleigh Coffey and Stetson Coffey; her Brothers, Jim McCormick, Tony McCormick and Sam McCormick; her Sisters, Ruth Daily, Frances Watts, Viola Hooper, Marie Crabtree and May Stout. She is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews, other family members and close friends. The Memorial Service will be Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Harper Funeral Home with Pastor Brandon Clark officiating. The graveside service will be private. The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks and appreciation to Dr. Melott, Dr. Cheruku and the wonderful staff at Baptist Memorials for all the loving care given to Goldie.
