Guadalupe Valero Salmon passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025 after a three year journey with dementia. We will always remember our mother’s love for family, friends, and her deep faith for her Savior. But most recently, we will remember her courageous battle as she faced her obstacles with much faith, grace, kindness, dignity, and a smile for everyone.
Mrs. Salmon was born to Juan and Julia Monclova on December 12, 1930 in Marathon, TX. She felt obligated to end her high school career after her junior year to help care for her younger sibling and later to work to help support the family. Her occupations included working as a telephone operator, waitress and as a seamstress.
Our mother leaves us with a legacy to continue in her honor. Family was always most important to her, and she always had time to listen, to share a meal with family and friends, and to love unconditionally. She lived the scripture John 13:34-35: “Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
Mrs. Salmon was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Emilio Salmon, and her daughter Graciela Shepherd. She is survived by her son Jose Salmon and wife Adel; her daughter Priscilla Estrada; and Maria Hendryx and husband Houston Hendryx. Survivors also include eight grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.
Rosary will be held on Friday August 8, 2025 at 7:00 PM at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church; Alpine, TX. A celebration of life mass will be held on Saturday August 9, 2025 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church with burial to follow at Holy Angels Cemetery; Alpine, TX.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Concho Hearts Hospice Care in San Angelo, TX or St. Vincent de Paul Society at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church.
