H. Elaine Allbright

H. Elaine Allbright, 71, of San Angelo, Texas, relocated to her new home in Heaven on September 19, 2026, following several years of pain and battling multiple illnesses. Praise God, Elaine is finally healed and completely free from pain. 

Elaine was born on May 12, 1955, in Big Spring, Texas, to Hervy Wayne McPeek and Doris (Young) McPeek. Not many people knew this, but her full name was actually Hervi Elaine Allbright. Her dad wanted to keep the family name Hervy Wayne alive, so he thought it would be cute to change the “Y” in Hervy to an “I” and use Elaine as her middle name. As her husband of 52 years, James, we had many funny experiences over the years when doctors' offices, hospitals, and other places would call her by her first name, middle initial, and last name, expecting to see a man—only to be surprised when a beautiful young girl or woman answered. Elaine grew up in several different towns as her dad moved frequently while working as a driller for Exxon Oil Company. The family eventually settled in Andrews, Texas. Elaine was very active, full of life, laughter, and had a big, beautiful smile. She was athletic and outgoing and participated in tennis, band, cheerleading, and many other school activities. 

Elaine met her future husband, James F. Allbright, at the beginning of their freshman year of high school, and they began dating. Five years later, on August 17, 1974, Elaine and James were married in Andrews, Texas. After attending Angelo State University in San Angelo, Elaine and James transferred to West Texas State University in Canyon, Texas where Elaine earned a bachelor's degree and a Dental Hygiene degree from Amarillo College in 1978. After graduation a company tied to the oil and gas industry that James was working for while in college transferred him to their Odessa, TX office. His Oil and gas career then took them to Hobbs, New Mexico; Midland, Texas; and eventually San Angelo, Texas, where they made their home since 2004.

 Elaine—affectionately known as Sugarlips, Mom, and Mimi—was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and daughter. She loved our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, deeply loved her family, never met a stranger, and had a wonderful sense of humor. One of Elaine's greatest joys was her grandchildren. She loved seeing and hearing from them and treasured every moment she could spend with them. As her health continued to decline, one of the things that saddened her most was being unable to spend as much time with them as she wanted. 

Elaine is survived by her husband, James F. Allbright; daughter, Kelly N. Allbright; son, Jace A. Allbright, and his wife, Tracy Allbright; grandchildren, Riley, Kiersten, and Bryn Allbright; and her sister, Carolyn Renfro, and her husband, Benny Renfro. 

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at Glen Meadows Baptist Church in San Angelo, Texas lead by pastor Mack Roller. Harper Funeral Home is assisting with the service. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Legacy Fund at Glen Meadows Baptist Church or Hospice of San Angelo. Elaine's earthly journey is now complete. She is healed, free from pain, and home with her Lord and Savior. She will be deeply missed by everyone who knew and loved her. 

A Final Word From Her Husband Elaine, Sugarlips, my best friend, and the love of my life for 52 years—there are no words that can truly express how much I love you or how much I will miss you. We shared so many wonderful memories, laughter, raising to wonderful children, adventures, challenges, and 52 years of life together. Through all the difficult years of your illnesses and pain, you remained the beautiful, loving Elaine that I fell in love with as a teenager. I am thankful that God allowed me to be your husband and walk beside you through this life. Although my heart is broken that you are no longer here beside me, I rejoice knowing that you are no longer hurting. You are healed, whole, and in the presence of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I will miss your beautiful smile, your laughter, your sense of humor, and hearing you say, “James.” Most of all, I will simply miss you. Until we meet again in heaven, I love you—and I always will.
