H. Carl Boyd Goodwin, of San Angelo, TX, passed away in his home surrounded by family on January 8th, 2026, at the age of 72, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 19, 1953 in San Angelo, TX to Gayland G. Goodwin and Laurene Boyd Goodwin.
Carl was an only child, but made up for this by surrounding himself with friends and having close relationships with his cousins. He graduated from Lake View High School in 1972, but not before meeting the love of his life at 16 years old, Janice. They dated for four years before joining their lives in marriage. Over the next four years, they built their family from two to four. He was a family man and took great pride in providing for his family, ever evolving in his chosen field of carpentry. He was raised in the Church of Christ and continued his association and faith in the church his entire life. He was a proud and active member of the Masonic Lodge 898 and the Scottish Rite. He earned distinctions as District Deputy Grand Master 105 in the Masons and 32 Degree Distinguished Service Award in the Scottish Rite. He also celebrated being the Worthy Patron of Eastern Stars Chapter 10 many times. Carl never met a stranger and was always willing to lend a helping hand. He was an extreme conversationalist, and everyone knew to settle in when he said, "to make a long story short".
