Heath A. Burns

Heath A. Burns, 57, of Denham Springs, Louisiana, passed away on July 15, 2026, in San Angelo, Texas. He is now riding the highways of Heaven with the angels.

Heath was born on February 15, 1969, in Escondido, California, to Joe and Hattie Burns. As the son of a United States Navy serviceman, he spent much of his childhood traveling with his family before they eventually settled in West Texas.

On July 22, 2000, Heath married his sweetheart and forever love of his life, Jennifer. For more than 20 years, he worked as a tugboat captain with companies including Kirby Inland Marine and Blessey Marine Services. He took great pride in his work and was respected by those who worked alongside him.

Heath will be remembered for his contagious laugh, his unwavering love for his family and friends, and the countless miles he spent behind the handlebars of his Harley-Davidson. No road was ever too long if it meant making memories. One of his favorite adventures was riding with Jennifer to Tennessee simply to enjoy the scenic views and winding mountain roads.

Heath is survived by his son, Beau Burns; his daughters, Kayla Galvan (Melissa) and Nikki Sanderson; his parents, Joe and Hattie Burns, who were blessed to spend his final days by his side; his sister, Leta Halfast (Jamey); and his nephews, Cory Halfast (Michaela) and Tobin Halfast (Bella).

His greatest joy was being "Pawpaw" to his two granddaughters, Lillian ("LillyBug") and Za'Niah ("ZZ"). Born just six weeks apart, the girls were his favorite topic of conversation and kept him on his toes, whether they were near or far.

Heath was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jennifer Burns. Together again at last, they are forever riding free on heaven's highways. He was also preceded in death by his brother by heart, "Jimbo" Robertson, who was surely waiting with a fishing pole in hand; as well as his grandparents and numerous aunts and uncles.

Services are under the direction of Harper Funeral Home. Visitation is Friday, July 31 from 5:00 to 7:00pm. Pastor Joseph Barron will officiate the service on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at 2:00pm, followed by a graveside service at Lawnhaven Cemetery in San Angelo, Texas.

Pallbearers will include Buddy Clayton, Chance Davis, Jay Kessinger, and Kerry (Wolf) Vidrine, Cory Halfast, and Tobin Halfast.

The family would like to extend thanks to Chris and Brady at West Texas Rehab for their care and support of Heath these last few months.
