Ira Gale Hartman passed away on Friday September 4, 2026, after a long battle with heart disease and dementia. He was born March 13,1943 to Ira Curtis Hartman and Rose Hartman in Comanche, Texas.
He was married to Kerran Hartman, the love of his life, for 53 wonderful years. They built a life centered around faith and family and raised three children together.
Gale spent his 30 year career split between IBM and the Tom Green County Tax Appraisal District, where his professionalism and work ethic touched many in his profession. He was active in his local Methodist Church and the Lions Club. Outside of work, he was an avid fan of the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo as well as a season ticket holder to anything sports related at Angelo State University. You would often see him running around town sporting his ASU Ram cap.
Gale was preceded in death by his wife Kerran in 2016 and his son Darin Hartman in 2018.
He is survived by his children, David Hartman (Ginger) and D'Layna Millen (Ben), his grandchildren, Shelby Morrison (Branson), Sterlyn Hartman, Chloe Flippo (Ryan), Hayden Hartman and Morgan Thamm as well as a great grandchild, Stevie Morrison and another one the way. He also had bonus grandkids, Emma Millen, AJ Millen, Samantha Millen, Zack Millen and Cece Millen.
The family would like to thank everyone at St. Gabrielle's Hospice Care for the support and care the last month.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
