J. B. Deans, Jr.

May 4, 1924 — November 25, 2018

J.B. Deans, Jr. passed into the arms of our Heavenly Father surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, November 25th at the age of 94. Visitation is from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, November 27, 2018 at Harper Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Wednesday, November 28, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Harper Funeral Home with a burial to follow in Voca, Texas at 2 p.m. J. B. was born May 4, 1924, in Voca, Texas, to Jot and Fannie Deans. Being a longtime member of Southgate Church of Christ was a joy for him. J.B. was employed by the Big Spring Herald, the Odessa American, and the San Angelo Standard Times before owning his own service station and lawn business. Serving in World War II in the U.S. Navy was a duty he fulfilled with pride. His legacy of hard work, dedication to God and family, and the strong-will to persevere in all trials will never be forgotten. J.B.is preceded in death by his parents, Jot and Fannie Deans, spouse, Lawanda Deans, brother, Carl Deans, and two sisters, Mae Morrow and Ruby Jennings. This loving father is survived by his daughters and spouses, Alanda and Charlie Beatty, Vicky and Keith McCutchen, Gina and Robert Chaney, all of San Angelo and Bettye and Dick Halstead of Melissa, Texas. “Grandad”, his rightful name, is also survived by grandchildren Vanessa Conatser and husband Chris of McKinney, Brooke Sanford and husband Kyle of Roscoe, Shawn Kozlovsky and husband Ricky of Waxahachie, Britney Hanna and husband Zach of Andrews, and Ryan Chaney of Abilene, John Beatty and wife Heather of Justin, Tiffany Cutrer and husband John of San Angelo, and Landon Beatty of San Angelo. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Taylor Fuentes, Kadan Conatser, Jett Conatser, Addison Kozlovsky, Zoey Kozlovsky, Aubree Sanford, Emberlee Sanford, Myles Hanna, Charlotte Beatty, Ethan Beatty, Andrew Beatty, Sawyer Beatty, Tyme Phillips, Cole Phillips, Hazel Cutrer, and Ellison Cutrer. Pallbearers for the service will be Kyle Sanford, Ryan Chaney, Taylor Fuentes, Zach Hanna, Chris Conatser, and Ricky Kozlovsky. A special thanks to Kindred Hospice of San Angelo for their continued Christian care and support during J. B.’s illness. The family requests any donations, in honor of J. B., to be made to Southgate Church of Christ or Kindred Hospice of San Angelo.
