Janice Rodgers Allen

Janice Rodgers Allen, 66, of San Angelo, Texas, went to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, November 24th, 2025.

Janice was born on March 19th, 1959, in San Angelo, Texas, to James Rodgers, Sr., and Altha Estella Williams Rodgers.

She attended Reagan Elementary, Edison Junior High School, where she was a prominent Crimson Tide Cheerleader, and Central High School, where she was a Bobcats Gymnast. Janice was prolific as a gymnast. Janice was the first African American of the High School Division to place in the gymnastics state competition in 1977. In her senior year, she represented the Rosary Reading and Arts Club of San Angelo, Texas, as a Debutante.

Janice accepted the Lord at an early age and was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost. Janice was formerly an Evangelist Missionary and First Lady.

She ministered and encouraged so many people. She was First Lady at Johnson Memorial Church of God in Christ in Lamesa, Texas,” for several years. Her quote, “Don’t stop praying.”

She was a devoted, loving, and talented wife to the late Pastor-Evangelist Wayne Avon Allen. They were married on June 17th, 1978. To this union, they had three children: Arvin Allen of Little Elm, Texas, Tyrone Allen (preceded in death), and LaTrinda Allen Murphy (Eric) of San Angelo, Texas. She has four grandchildren, Jordon Washington, Jonavin Allen, Jazmyn Allen, and Arianna Allen, to cherish her memory.

She also leaves to cherish her memory her siblings, James Rodgers Jr., (Carmen), Sharon Denise Rodgers Njemanze, (Charles), Elder Ronald De Wayne Rodgers, (Debra), all of San Angelo, Texas. Patricia Ann Rodgers Tubbs of Lubbock, Texas, Regina Rodgers Rollins (Earl) of Irving, Texas, Bruce Graham of LA, California, and Larry Chance (preceded in death).

And a host of nieces and nephews.

Public viewing will be from 10:00 A.M., - 7:30 P.M., Friday, December 5, 2025 at Harper Funeral Home. The Wake Service will be 5:30P.M. – 7:30 P.M., Friday, December 5, 2025, at Harper Funeral Home. Her Celebration of Life will be 11:00 A.M., Saturday, December 6, 2025, at New Jerusalem Church of God in Christ in San Angelo. The burial will follow at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens.

For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight. I have finished my course; I have kept the faith.
