Janice L. Kelsey

Janice L. Kelsey (Jan) passed away on May 29, 2023. She is survived by one son, Larry S. Melton Jr. Jan was born October 17, 1933 in Terre Haute, Indiana. She grew up in Portland, Indiana and graduated from Portland High school in 1951. After graduation she attended Earlham College in Richmond, Indiana; for one year. She then pursued a career in Radiologic Technology at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland; graduating in 1954. Jan was also an accomplished pianist, serving numerous churches in San Angelo as their pianist/organist. The American Cancer Society was one of her volunteer commitments, being named “Volunteer of the Year” during her service. She was implemental in establishing a Radiologic Society, while working at San Angelo Community Hospital she helped bring radiology students to Community for their clinical work. Jan loved to play bunco and bridge, scrabble and traveling with her husband. Together they visited all 50 states and 6 continents. She was a friend to all and will be missed. Services will be held on Tuesday, June 6, 2023 at 2:00 PM at St. Mark Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers the family ask for donations to be made to the St. Mark Presbyterian Church, American Cancer Society or the Arthritis Foundation.
